About

Expired Light is a platform for longform photographic essays, portraits, and reflections by David Davis. It exists to hold stories — of people, places, and moments — before they vanish.

Each project is an attempt to document what resists simple explanation: conflict, resilience, violence, waiting, survival. Some works follow individuals. Others trace larger movements and systems. All begin from the same impulse: to preserve what is passing, without spectacle or distortion.

The name Expired Light refers to the physical act of photography — the recording of light that no longer exists. But it also gestures toward something broader: the residual presence of people, voices, and histories that would otherwise be lost to noise or neglect.

This is not a portfolio. It is not a blog. It is a quiet archive. A place to think slowly about the human condition, through images and fragments left behind.
